SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM - Industrial Electrical

I was about to buy a new TV when I discovered that newer TVs only have one audio output, and it's optical. On my old Samsung I had a sound disc connected to the optical port and then connected Sennheiser 160 headphones to the audio out and it worked. I love my headphones because I can't hear very well. Although I couldn't use the old headphones because they don't have an optical connector, I decided to get a new set of Sennheiser 175 headphones with an optical connector and this splitter that another reviewer somewhere recommended to split the optical signal between the headphones disconnect and the soundbar, so I don't have to keep connecting and disconnecting different outputs to the optical port. I ordered it before buying a new TV to see if it worked and it worked great on my current TV. I hooked up both a sound panel and new headphones to this unit and then a splitter to the TV and both worked. I left the speaker setting on the TV as TV speakers and not optical as others have suggested because when I changed it to OPTICAL only the soundbar worked. I then turned the TV volume down to zero and my soundbar and headphones worked at the same time, so if my family were around, they could hear the TV audio while I listened through the headphones. So now I'm going to buy a new big screen TV knowing this setup will work. This little splitter is only $21 plus the price of a connecting cable - be sure to buy a cable to connect to your TV, it doesn't come with it, but it's only $5 at Revain. Worst case it wouldn't work and I'd have to buy a new HDMI soundbar for a new TV to use the optical headphone jack. But it worked and saved me a lot of money. My problem was solved and I couldn't be happier because I figured it out myself and it works!
