I bought these speakers to use in the control room of my recording studio. They certainly don't do the job as primary reference speakers, but they do work well as secondary speakers, which I use to ensure mixes transfer well to smaller speakers. The sound has a broad but not aggressive accent in the upper mids around 2kHz. However, they are not sharp at all and are not tiring to listen to. I think they do a good job of locating mixing problems in this critical area, which is most sensitive to human hearing. Older engineers will remember the infamous Yamaha NS-10, used for the same reason. That pesky ten was so harsh around 2kHz that engineers covered the tweeter with tissue paper or toilet paper to muffle the sound a bit. Do not laugh, many gold discs mixed with "help" NS-10. These KEiiD speakers are way better than the NS-10 (low kudos) and have become a useful mixing tool for me. I think many people will find these to be good speakers for inexpensive personal listening. Boosting the upper mids gives them a bit of a brighter character, but the tone controls on the back can tame some of that. There's no deep bass, but you don't buy small speakers if you want to feel the bass bursting through the floor. Out of the box, they're really too bright, so they take a few days of constant use to open up. Once the cones get used to the vibration, they make a good little speaker.
