No more shared media for me!

You get what you pay for and they're not much more expensive than generics except for the super cheap ones that end up wasting a lot of time with bad burns or returns. From these Verbatim DVDs I've recorded three of 50 spindles so far, not a single stand. They are thick and tough. I've found some very small chips on the edges of several discs, but only when they're stacked on top of each other and the light hits them right. Canon MX922 inks are usually accepted, but they are not bright white…

OK. The ink never dries.

These DVDs are suitable for printing. The colors are nice and bold, but mine never dry out completely. .even after a few weeks! It is enough to run your finger over the drawing and you will get a lot of strokes and fingerprints. My DVD labels are always full of graphics so maybe it would have been different if you just typed the words (or maybe even used a different printer/ink) but if you use the standard Canon MX922 ink you get smudges and fingerprints with every touch. That. I know they…

Flawless burning and printing

My customers don't ask for DVDs anymore, but when they do I don't have time to waste them on bad media. These haven't let me down yet. I can easily burn data from my iMac onto a Data Life Plus drive using an external LG DVD player/recorder. I then insert the disc into my Canon Pixma Pro 100 and print directly onto the surface of the disc. I have not experienced the ink drying issues mentioned. With these printable discs, I can provide my customers with a much more finished product than if I…

DVD-R Reliability

Printable discs are becoming more and more difficult these days. Interestingly, this comes at a time when there are actually more printers with the ability to print to disc. Epson used to have a block of printers that could print directly to CD or DVD, but now several modern Canon models do the same (and I can say they do it more reliably than the few Epsons I've had). I've waited to write this until I've used at least a few discs and in fact so far I've used most of them and none of the bad…

Two "stands " with 50 discs

I have been using Verbatim Datalife blank DVDs for over a decade and they are excellent. However, the quality of these discs has definitely deteriorated in the last three or four years. Now out of 50 packs I get 2-3 "racks" or "non-rewritable discs" which I keep buying because they're still very good, but I can't give them five stars anymore.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Ideal for short runs and personalized DVDs

Used for photo DVDs for photographer clients. When you create a beautiful label that can be printed directly onto it with the right inkjet printer, it looks very professional and is perfect for short runs and custom orders. If you're making large runs (about 50 of the same item) it's cheaper to hire a DVD/CD supplier to make it. The place I used for one of my clients (radio host, CD/DVD shows and videos) was a place in Anaheim, CA called BurnSmart, they made good quality and had very small…

Decent quality so far

I've made a few CDs and for the most part they seem perfect. I can't use the printing features at the moment as I don't have a suitable device for it, so I don't have any comments yet. I haven't encountered bad drives yet (I've heard that some collections might have bad drives, so I want to make sure I'm not too surprised if that turns out to be the case).

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Too long to wait

Good choice for DVDs

These verbs are my second choice for discs that match my (another brand) favorites in performance and reliability. Burning through this product is very satisfying with very few coasters (perhaps 1 or 2 per 100 discs). The white printable surface accepts and absorbs ink very well and dries quickly. Very good price for this quality product. The only minor downside for me (and for some it probably won't be a problem at all) is that these discs are not printable (the printed surface extends to the…

MID is MCC 03RG20, best suited for DVD-R discs

Vendor ID on these discs is MCC 03RG20. That means Mitsubishi made them. Mitsubishi makes some of the best optical media on the market. Since these are DataLifePlus drives, that means they are made by Mitsubishi and NOT CMC, the worst optics manufacturer. Verbatim seems content to tarnish some of its good name by going to bed with CMC as they continue to outsource more of their media to them. All Life Series DVDs or CDs except DataLifePlus are CMCs. Verbatim discontinued its own BD-RE discs and

Top quality discs - one step ahead of the competition

I've been using the Taiyo Yuden/JVC Watershield discs for about a year. After going through 50 discs I was generally very happy with them but wanted to evaluate my skills before buying another disc spindle. For me, 50 discs is about 3/4 of the yearly cost. I use these discs to burn digital images for delivery to clients. They should look good and last a long time. Given the importance of this product to me, it just doesn't make sense to save a penny here. I wanted better. After a bit of…
