Product arrived dirty and looked used. The battery compartment had to be pryed open a bit to open, as the door appeared to be in a state of dissolution with discolored plastic around the edges of the door. Inside the compartment were sticky grit and green corrosion and oxidation on the battery terminals. I cleaned the inside of the compartment and put the batteries in. Nothing worked. Reading the instructions at this point, I found that I had to press the on/off button for at least 1.5 seconds. I gave it a second time 2-3 seconds and a bright light came on. So I'm glad it works.
