I ordered this natural black tourmaline necklace because I liked the way it looked on the product page. Now that I have it and can take a better look at it, I have to say I'm not impressed. In the beginning I had to play with it for a few minutes before I figured out how to adjust the length of the cable. . If they had included some kind of instruction everything would have gone smoothly. Cord is a type of braided material and thread. I noticed that a thin string can break very easily. Once I adjusted the length of the cord, it slipped slightly over my head, but when I looked in the mirror I thought the whole thing looked pretty silly. The cord—don't know what else to call it—feels cheap and homemade. The stone is a piece of black tourmaline, a mineral said to have healing and calming properties. The product page states that it "imparts a deep sense of positivity, peace, healing, emotional balance, and joie de vivre." I googled and found a slew of claims regarding its healing, calming, and cleansing properties. Who are they fooling? A "Mineral" website claimed that tourmaline benefits include: Improved circulation Promotes a healthy mood Helps detoxify heavy metals and environmental pollutants Helps with weight loss and reduces bloating Helps reduce anxiety and stress Helps get rid of compulsive behavior Supports a healthy immune system Sorry, but I don't believe a word. I'll wear it for a few days and when I feel calmer, "cleaner" and less stressed I'll come back and up my rating. But don't bet on it. I think that actually every minute a human being is born. This pendant did not impress me at all and I cannot recommend it. I rate it three stars.
