Yes, when I first opened it, it had a very, very slight smell. But every product you buy will have a certain smell. It smelled like house paint, but very subtle. You literally have to put your face in to smell it. The smell is completely gone after just one use. I use this for my daily shower to reduce the need to wash actual towels as often. I see people complaining that it's too small. . What are you doing too little for? When it gets too saturated, you express it. What part of it don't you understand? This little towel was absorbent enough to dry my clothes (mostly) while I was swimming in the lake in jeans and a shirt. We also have a large dog and he was able to dry her off after bathing. (which usually takes 2-3 normal towels). You could soak up the lake with one of these if you had the time. I will be buying a few more of these because they are so versatile and comfortable.
