Despite my safety concerns we finally bought this long awaited fin for my 7 year old. She loves to play with him. She is an early to intermediate swimmer. I'm still not sure if it's safe. Like so many other things, she got tired of it after a while. They are well made in the sense that there is an insert that you can remove to make them larger - in fact they are big enough that I could wear them for a swim in the pool. Although I don't like the fins, my daughter loves them and in the short time she has been using them she was very happy with this gift. As always, we keep her around the pool.
