Why use a TRRS cable that does not support the use of a microphone? I really appreciate the red wire as it helps distinguish the audio jacks on different computers. However, this cable is useless when used with a microphone in headsets or headphones. The microphone does not work with some headsets. work even if you wiggle the cable connector slightly in the right direction. On other headsets, the mic works just fine, but with a terrible, terrible buzz. The volume gets very loud and then moderately quieter, depending on how the cable wiggles. The WORST aspect of this cable is that I spent TEN HOURS trying to figure out why the volume controls kept going up on my MacBook Pro. automatically at regular intervals, causing my headphones to suddenly burst my eardrums at full volume at random times. After resetting NVRAM, PRAM, SMC and further checking that all my OS components are up to date, nothing worked to fix the problem UNTIL I removed this cable and threw it in the trash. It turned out that the noise from the cable made the operating system think I was pressing the volume buttons on my headphones. UNBELIEVABLE.
