Review on Stride Rite Claire Toddler Little Girls' School Uniforms in Shoes by Jennifer Salazar

Not as good as Hush Puppies

I ordered a pair of Stride Rite (SR) Mary James along with the Hush Puppies (HP) brand to see which brand we might like better. The price of the SR was definitely a bit better. But when it comes to quality, HP is definitely better. Appearance: These two shoes are very similar, but the SR feels plasticky and feels cheap. HP shoes are not made of leather, but the material feels more comfortable and looks richer. Inside: Both shoes have memory foam, but pressing down on either shoe the HP feels dense, with the slow rise you'd expect from memory foam. The SRs feel very flimsy and the foam rebounds quickly. Sole: The lower part of the sole is very different! I took both shoes and tested their grip on the hardwood floor. SR shoes slide on the floor. HP has a grippy rubber base - no slipping! Straps: I noticed that the straps look different in length. After measurement, the overall length of the SR belt is 8-1/2 inches, the length of the HP belt is 10 inches. Not important for my child but maybe for some who need extra width adjustment. The SR shoe has a more "shoe-like" profile if that matters, while the HP shoe has a sleeker look. I hope this helps others so you don't have to order both shoes! They are a bit small as my daughter is about 3-1/2 but her fingers are barefoot on the ends of both. I would order a half size up if I'm not sure! My vote, as you probably understand, is Hush Puppies. ;)

Pros

Cons
  • Shoes may not last long and may need to be replaced frequently.
