WRONG SIZE, holes too small + misaligned

I've been using a drill and screwdriver since I was about 8 and 70 years old. I made furniture that I designed myself. I cut a table out of black walnut and attached hidden wheels under the bottom shelf. It was at museums and student shows when I was in college. I studied wood design in college, but I've been building and repairing things since I was a kid. So I'm not new to using basic tools and doing basic things. It should have been 15-30 minutes max, not 90 minutes. The first. 5/8" is NOT the same as 3/4". I didn't want to give it back. So I took a clean rag from a t-shirt, cut a small piece off, folded it in quarters, being careful not to cover the drilled holes. The wheel is nice and solid. I've done this on every bike. Size and fit checked. Then I added some sticky glue for durability. NOW the real problems started. WHO makes objects with TWO different sized holes? I kept screwing into the larger hole, but it just didn't fit through the smaller hole at the exit. Tried other screws. THEN I realized there was one hole less! Then I made sure I started on the side with the smaller hole. Still wouldn't align! So I kept using bigger and bigger drill bits until I settled on the largest I had on hand, 1/4"! The hole was never meant to be that big. But wait, I made it even bigger! I kept drilling a hole into the side to make it look more like a 3/8" or larger. This gave the screw enough slack to go through the other side. Finally success! I also used a nut to secure the screw protruding from the inside edge of my desk I tightened each nut with a wrench (with my other hand I used a screwdriver to hold the screw in place while I tightened the nut) 5 stars IF the correct size or width is consistent with description, label and wood size if nuts are included, if same size larger hole to better fit the screw and ensure proper alignment. Don't blame the fabric. I tried without fabric and with the same realignment problem! But on the other hand I can easily move around the Ikea computer desk standing in front of the dresser, now I don't have to keep emptying and lifting the table to get to the closet, so I'm happy!
