Lots of cables available for purchase. They all say what they do. It says "Connects a computer, desktop, laptop or other device with an HDMI port to a monitor, projector, HDTV or other device with a VGA port." So I have an old monitor with a VGA port and my wife wanted it connect it to your laptop with an HDMI port as a dual monitor. I've looked at a lot of cables, yes they don't work the other way around. If you have an HDMI-only monitor and need to connect it to a VGA-only computer, do not purchase this cable. If you need to change your car battery, don't use this cable. If you need to connect your washing machine to a microwave, do not use this cable. This cable works great, it does what it promises. Instead of giving a star, just read the description and then explain that you didn't read the description.
