Smelly, like other kitchen rags

The stench from my kitchen rags has been bothering me for years. Based on the rave reviews for absorbency and odorlessness, I bought three different sets of Swedish kitchen towels to replace the worn out cotton kitchen towels. I've been using them for about 5 months and I find them overpriced for what they are. Pros: -5 stars for absorbency! I haven't used paper towels in at least ten years. Instead, I use patch towels. My towels can't match the absorbency of these kitchen towels. (But towels still do the job.) They're biodegradable. (But so are 100% cotton tea towels, which last longer.) Cons: - They stink! Maintenance and cleaning costs are higher than expected. You can wash them in the dishwasher or washing machine. But they must be dried on a rope. I change the towels every day because no matter how many times I wash them, they stink. I'll probably have to soak them in vinegar or even bleach to get rid of the smell (and bacteria). They don't last as long as a traditional kitchen towel. I bought them to combat the phantom stench from the kitchen sink and they don't deliver. This is a nice novelty, but you can also use a more durable cotton washcloth (preferably organic, which you can afford at this price point) and wash it often. It lasts longer and doesn't stink as quickly. If super absorbency isn't your most important attribute, I recommend saving some money and using what you already have, or going for the cheaper cotton option.
