Wanted to use 4 inch cans instead of 6 inch cans for a new house. The contractor charges $60 for a 6" can and $110 for a 4" can. I believe this is based on older prices when 4 inch cans were much more expensive. The contractor agreed to install 4 inch cans for $50 each if I provided the cans. After 46 cans I saved $2300 and the electricians thought the cans were fine, they were IC and sealed. Now I'm just looking for suitable strips with built-in LED lamps. I have slightly less choice of 4" leds/finishes but it's good enough for the vast majority of occasions like shower ability, brushed nickel finishes, eye finishes etc etc.
