Why buy uglier 6 inch cans?

Wanted to use 4 inch cans instead of 6 inch cans for a new house. The contractor charges $60 for a 6" can and $110 for a 4" can. I believe this is based on older prices when 4 inch cans were much more expensive. The contractor agreed to install 4 inch cans for $50 each if I provided the cans. After 46 cans I saved $2300 and the electricians thought the cans were fine, they were IC and sealed. Now I'm just looking for suitable strips with built-in LED lamps. I have slightly less choice of 4"โ€ฆ

Body and trim kits not very impressive

They are very cheaply made but appear to be quite strong. The fact that they only come with an LED light socket and not a screw base makes me only give them a 3 star rating. It would be a 4 or higher if they included the ability to use almost any LED light bulb, not just those with that type of connector. They arrived well packaged and the box wasn't damaged (as many have reported) and the first two were easy to install so I'm very happy to install the rest. They will work, but I wouldn't buyโ€ฆ

New detachable head nails are an improvement

I have now installed 30 new glass bulbs. The previous 20 used the old design with short, less rigid, non-removable nails. I recently ordered 10 more jars for the next phase of the project. The new cans come with a new nail design that has a second raised head to make it easier to remove the nails if the can needs to be moved. The new nails are slightly larger, sharper and tougher. This is a big improvement. I recently had to move one of the old tin lanterns across a cavity in one of the floorโ€ฆ

Good LED glass for outdoor accent lighting

They are very well made and would be good for accent lighting in my house. I only gave this four stars because of the legs and nails that are supposed to hold the glass in place. The legs were very brittle and were very close to the rail on which the can rests, so it was very difficult to hit a nail directly, and if the structure of the wood didn't allow the nail to go straight into the nail, would it happen bounce off. to one side or the other making it impossible to drive a nail in, but ifโ€ฆ

Easy installation and adjustment for narrow beams

I installed 20 in a 900 sq ft remodeled. ft. I had to trim a few sliders and it's easy. Just slide them together and break the small V in all the sliders. My only problem was that one didn't work. I had to remove the can and work through the hole since the drywall was finished. It turned out that the black wire had not been stripped before inserting it into the 3-hole connector. So there was no line. I took it off and put it back on and it worked. This scared me because at first I thought theโ€ฆ

Good Recessed Lights

These are great lights for $10 each. We used them under our waterproof deck with Sunco LED inserts (2700K, also available in packs of 10 from Revain for $75) and the two components are connected directly to each other. They are easy to assemble and have small nails in each leg that work well with I-beams too. Adjustable metal mounting rails can be attached to each of the four sides of the light and easily shortened in 12" increments to fit between the joists. As with most new jigs, they comeโ€ฆ
