First washed in strong Lye solution (1/2 cup to 6 cups hot water) which pulled a dark and foamy sludge from the product, a second wash with 1 cup of food grade Lye and 6 cups of hot water, more black foam came loose, third wash was with washing soda and enzyme spray I can now handle and touch themThe look very nice after getting cleaned so they could be used.
