Use USB flash drives with the iPad Pro (2021), but with one caveat.

The new iPad Pro (2021) has an interface port that allows you to connect a USB storage device. The only catch is that only USB-C drives plug directly into this port. All USB-A flash drives require an adapter. This short adapter comes to the rescue. Plug it into your iPad's USB-C port and plug your USB-A flash drive into the other end. The problem is solved. Because the adapter is only 6 inches long, the adapter hangs loosely on the side of the iPad. This can be an aesthetic nuisance for the clean look of the iPad. In this case, a longer adapter might be a better choice. It is important to consider how you intend to use your flash drive with this adapter. Because transfer speeds vary by flash drive type, don't blame the adapter if you're experiencing slow file access times. Older and slower drives limit the data transfer rate on iPad. Although simple files (e.g. spreadsheets, word processors) are not usually a problem, you should be aware that video/movie files are particularly sensitive to low bitrates and may not play properly from a flash drive. Many videos only play correctly when "faster" generation 3.1/3.2 flash drives are used.
