Review on Totes Anniversary Section Close Plaid Umbrellas by Lauren Negron

Nice but the price! Ouch!

I have to admit, I've never had an umbrella. I have a championship wing that I love and has served me well so I will compare it to that. First of all, this is the anniversary version of this umbrella. I had no idea when it was offered to me, but I'm sure that's why the price. MSRP is $75 and current listing is $53. This is a really expensive umbrella for me, my champion was $25. The presentation definitely deserves a gift, presented in a sturdy black and gold box with a magnetic closure. The umbrella is really great - love the black and white pattern. The umbrella is a solid construction from the handle to the end of the umbrella. The handle is a short stub handle big enough to fit my hand comfortably, but it's only a circle so it has no real shape and I think once I've held it for a long time (e.g. on a meeting course or in a swimming pool to protect against sun or rain) this can lead to hand fatigue. It has a matte finish that makes it soft to the touch, with some gold accents that don't feel uncomfortable. The button lifts and opens it, another push closes it, but the length stays in place (the screen closes, but not the height). The umbrella pole is wide and strong, and I had no trouble bending or deforming it. The canopy is not vented, so you have to be careful not to let it invert like other umbrellas. The fabric is thick and durable. The umbrella is attached with a thick Velcro strap. There's also a metal zippered pocket, which in my experience always gets lost, but in this case, the zipper makes it easy to get on and off. The umbrella is big enough to keep me completely dry, but too small if you're trying to cover two people, even though it's advertised as a two-person size. We've had two pretty heavy rainy weeks so it got a lot of use but I found I only reached for a different umbrella for the comfort of the handle. I'm sure there are many nice tweaks to make it convenient. Anniversary edition, from the zipper on the case to the cool pattern, the chic packaging and the gold metal accents. I'm just not sure if it's worth the price increase for anyone but a die-hard handbag lover. Made in China.

Pros
