Greatly reduces light output, beam angle not very good

I bought some V-channel variants from the same manufacturer which I'm very happy with, and compared to this version, the brightness is significantly reduced and beam angle is terrible. Compared to bare LED strips, using this product reduces both brightness and beam angle by about 50% I'd say. The V-channel version was much better, maybe only a 20% reduction at most. Having the inner part of the segments in black I think is a big factor as regards brightness at least. Would be nice to have the outside black but inner walls white/silver.

Pros

Easy installation - The led strip covers can be simply snapped in channels. They can be cut into specific lengths effortlessly by a fine-tooth hacksaw or miter saw. Cons

The black finish may show scratches and imperfections more easily than lighter-colored finishes, detracting from its overall appearance
