After all, even the best rechargeable batteries have to be disposed of properly. My wife had issues with the phone's volume and clarity. The first reaction was that it was an old phone - true - but at least without trying to get it to work I didn't want to throw the phone away. There is no heroism here. I just replaced the phone's battery and charged it overnight. In the morning it worked like a new phone with more than enough volume and crystal clear clarity. Another nice feature was the number of hours of talk time we had before the phone needed charging. Some battery experts might have a better idea, but we turn off our phone until we hear a beep indicating the battery is low. At this point we switch phones to avoid losing the call and put the dead phone on the charger to charge it overnight. So far so good, but maybe someone else has other ideas.
