As much as it pains me to admit it, my wife and I are getting older. Things that didn't concern you at all when you were young become more important, such as safety when bathing and showering. For a woman whose legs are a little wobbly, it's time to put a safety bar in the shower. The funny thing is that I also find it practical. I wanted to find an inexpensive stainless steel bar, not a chrome bar. I also wanted to find one that was 32" long so each end could be mounted in the wall (usually 16" in the center). It's not easy to find something like this, but Revane was the right place. This RevainBasics bar comes in a variety of diameters and lengths, including what I wanted (1 1/2" diameter - 32" long). Mounting holes allow for vertical, horizontal or slanted orientation. I installed mine horizontally. The screws that came with the stem weren't long enough to go through the tile and wall and go deep enough into the rack so I had to buy longer stainless steel screws. However, I have an old house with stucco walls, so the screws may be long enough for your application. After finding the studs, I used a carbide drill to drill mounting holes in the tile. The holes in the mounting plate are near the sides of the pole. So when I inserted the screws, I used an appropriate extension in my drill/screwdriver to ensure proper clearance for the drill/screwdriver head. If it doesn't make sense, you'll find out for yourself when you mount it. An ordinary screwdriver will do, but who makes them? After installing the stem and before snapping on the end caps, I smeared some silicone sealant along the top edge of the flange and over the bolts. Just to prevent water from running into the wall. I don't know if it was necessary, but I felt better. The thing is solid! Attaches directly to the studs, does not move. Now I feel much more comfortable when my wife takes a shower and I find it more comfortable myself. reset soap? It's nice to have something to grab when you bend down to pick it up. And it's not a bad place to hang your washcloth when you're done showering. I am very happy with it. For the price I find it hard to beat.
