check with your medical team before using, works very well for me, easy to cut, apply and remove

Before using a moist covering on any wound, make sure that it is safe to do so as some wounds should be kept dry.I use this hydrogel dressing, with my medical team's approval, on a bile duct drain tube location. I was told that normally the tube stays in for 2-3 weeks, but since I have other medical issues that prevent the surgery that will allow the drain to be removed, it has been in place for roughly 9 months now. Originally, I was covering it with gauze and when it seemed like something was bothering the skin, I applied bacitracin to the gauze. My team suggested that a moist dressing might be helpful and I started using these. They come in a package with six dressings, each sealed in its own envelope. Each can be cut to size, and my dressing need is about 1/3 of a 2x3 dressing. The dressing covers the wound and keeps it moist for 48 hours before cleaning the site and changing the dressing. Cutting the pad is simple. It applies to the skin very easily and stays put, although I note that I cover mine with gauze. It is easy to remove from the skin - much easier than tape - and does not leave any residue behind. I do not have hair on the skin area on which I'm using this, but I tested it on my leg, where I do have issues with the adhesive I use for infusions pulling out hair, and this pad does not pull on the hair.I'm pleased that I can keep the area moist and with a dressing that provides a level of bacterial prevention. While I am happy to recommend them, I hope that my need for their use is over soon.
