Review on ๐Ÿ”ฆ Cygolite Dice TLโ€“ 50 Lumen Bike Tail Lightโ€“ Ultimate Safety and Visibility by Brian Smith

Incredible brightness and weight

After I removed the rubber mounting strap in favor of using Velco to attach to the back of my bike helmet, it weighs well under 1 ounce which is a HUGE strain on my neck from a Serfas Rear light on The 60 lumens I had before (different light in the red dot image). The elastic rubber band is "heavy" like the Serfas, but so much lighter that it's 1/3 the weight of the Serfas. At approximately 40% of the system's 1 ounce weight, the Velcro attached light is incredibly lightweight. The published runtimes for various modes appear to be correct - unbelievable as it seems for something of this size and weight. It is also welcome to pay attention to small details, e.g. B. turn on and turn on the light again in the same state. The USB cable automatically turns off the light, so there is no risk of increasing the setting. When switching off manually, the button is held down until the display flashes briefly, unequivocally confirming that the device has been switched off. A low constant setting indicates the light is charging, which is also unmistakable. I like the oval light pattern as drivers can still find me, especially if they turn their heads. I use SteadyPulse mode in addition to my 250 lumen Lezyne Monster DayFlash mode on the seat post. I also have an old NiMh powered Planet Bike Super Blinky Turbo because the body is well lit from the side and unlike LION powered lights the NiMh does not have or require protection circuitry so it can but will not dim. switch off completely. In short, it fully met my needs thanks to its own battery, USB charging, light diffusion and very light weight. Its oval light pattern is smaller than Serfa's 60 lumens, but almost as intense. I assume at least 50 lumens at a constant height. I've bought about $500 worth of taillights for myself and my family over the last 10 years and it packs more power in less space and weight than anything I've ever seen or owned. Place the USB charging port on top of the hard plastic bar that the elastic strap attaches to, making attaching with Velcro at the bottom less of a hassle. The rubber material that makes up the strap would make a perfect USB port cover if shaped like a crescent and should be at least as waterproof as the strap will pull it hard against the seatpost or whatever you wrap it. vicinity. The current USB connector is not molded into the plastic case. So if the rubber cover ever fails (yes, it's on the underside, but without fenders, the tires will splash water under the seat), water, dirt, and debris will get behind the lens. This is a potentially serious design flaw.
