I got these along with my 3M laminator which only came 3mm thick. I'm new to laminating but I think 5mm is the way to go. I laminate reference cards for various camera lenses, so I needed something strong enough to slip in and out of my camera bag. I printed them out on my computer so it's just printer paper and I couldn't get them wet. They worked very well. The pair had to go through twice but I think that's more of an issue with my budget laminator than the packs.
