Good compression but heel discomfort

I fractured my ankle a little from running. My podiatrist recommended wearing a brace during recovery and running after recovery, and a friend who is a serious runner recommended this brace. It handles compression very well and I had no pain in my ankle while wearing it. However, I had a few problems with it. In the beginning it took me a few days to learn how to put it on my ankle but obviously it has to be tight so it wasn't a deal breaker. Second, the bandage caused a lot of discomfort in the heel area, although the compression in this area was minimal. I actually had a bruise on my heel that was more painful than a broken ankle. Now I'm looking for another orthosis because if it's so uncomfortable to walk in, I can't imagine running in it. I checked the size so it's not a problem.

Pros
  • STABILITY: Two low stretch dynamic zones: an ankle stabilization zone and a lateral gel stabilization zone. Our ankle brace provides extra stability, minimizes the risk of ankle rollover and neutralizes unsteady movements.
Cons
  • Very expensive
