I waited about a month from receipt to remove the battery tab and start the watch with a black stripe for the fall season. At first it worked fine. However, when I switched to daylight saving time a month later, it stopped working. This may be because I moved the arrows counter-clockwise instead of clockwise. However, I have changed the time of several other clocks counterclockwise with no ill effects. It could also be that the battery died after just a month, but I suspect it was the daylight saving time that broke it. That's why I order Kimont as it didn't break when I changed the time. Shame as I ordered a Geneva watch from another seller a few years ago and it worked fine.
