I bought an iPhone 8 plus, I bought an iPhone in the "large" format for the first time. I also bought another case; the one that had a flap that covered both the front and back and did a great job of protecting the phone. It was good, but I didn't realize the valve would interfere with phone calls. So I bought a Spigen previously bought for another phone and I'm very happy with it. It's much easier to manage during a call, and since the phone itself feels heavy in your hand if your call lasts more than 10 minutes, this case has a kickstand that allows you to put it down without interfering with your call . It's absolutely wonderful.
