Review on πŸ’ͺ Enhance Productivity and Experience Seamless Control with Nuance PowerMic III Microphone for Dragon (Non-Healthcare) by Adrienne Holmes

Excellent dictation quality, room for improvement Dragon Medical One Full Button Use

I purchased a PowerMic III to dictate into the Citrix based Dragon Medical One software package for our electronic medical record Epic. I would say that the quality of the dictation is excellent. This is an expensive tool/toy, but well worth it if you use it all day to dictate appointments to patients. The build quality is good, the keys feel comfortable. The sensitivity of the microphone is just right. Push-to-talk comes at a high price – you can dictate in a room with noisy patients (pediatric) and still get accurate speech recognition. This tool is way better than the Nuance PowerMic Mobile software which IMHO you can use on your smartphone if you only use a laptop or workstation to dictate all your notes. I bought a PowerMic III with a 9 foot cable. The quality of the cable is good, but you need to know how to handle the cable so it doesn't get in the way or get twisted. I bought a replacement short cable here at Revain to better fit my laptop mobile workstation. My only complaint is that I don't currently have full button functionality and customization with the Dragon Medical One software system. I called support and they say it's just an error. I can only customize 6 of the 13 available buttons. I want to use all keys. What you don't see in the website image is the button on the bottom of the PowerMic III for your index finger. The default is left click. It would be great to be able to customize or disable this button as well, as it's easy to accidentally click if you keep your finger on it. The Nuance Help Desk is very helpful. They helped me figure out how to install Citrix drivers on my laptop and get Nuance PowerMic III working with my system. Not only was it plug and play, but the support service was good. I would buy it again if needed. Or, best of all, have your practice buy it for you!
