I have had an Olympus Pearlcorder S713 for a few years. It has many features that are hard to find in newer recorders. It features a red LED to indicate recording, a 3-digit tape counter, external headphone and microphone jacks, and an automatic end-of-tape stop. Also features double speed recording and voice control recording. I don't hear any tape noise when using the internal microphone. The only limitation is the microcassette. But still the sound quality is good, even for recording a bit of vocals (in my opinion).
