I work on bugs and due to a hearing loss from my military service I can't hear radio conversations from my handheld mic when doors are opened/closed or when we push carts through the halls even though it was next to my ear . I have this to hear my radio better when there is competing noise and it does the job perfectly! No more avoidable trips with my colleagues because I can't hear my radio during a busy part of my shift or because there's no traffic coming my way! My manager commended me for dramatically improving my radio with this cheap little guy! There seems to be a slight transmission lag when I'm near a repeater, so sometimes a short transmission like "10-4" is just the sound of the radio turning on, or I miss the first second of a longer transmission. but once I'm away from the relay on the other side of the prison, it's no problem. The speaker itself is clean and the clarity depends on what radio I plugged it into, so a crappy radio will be loud, but a good radio will work just fine. For such a price 5/5!
