Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Kershaw Fly Tying Scissors: Skeeter II Edition by Dawn Fischer

Off The Beaten Track

Kershaw is definitely a big brand in the knife industry but they are not known for making fly tying tools. When rows of bow ties replace a worn pair of scissors, it's not often the Kershaw brand that springs to mind. I found the Kershaw Skeeter I and II fly tying scissors almost by accident. Being a huge fan of Kershaw knives, dating back to the days when Dan Kershaw designed knives for Gerber and still making custom disposable blades, I figured I probably couldn't lose picking them up for around $16 per pair ($14.95 and $16.95 respectively). Typically, quality fly tying scissors cost between $20 and $40. So $16 was certainly easy on the wallet to try something other than a brand I trust. These Kershaw fly tying scissors are great! I got the carbide scissors from Dr. Slick, which I have been very happy with for a number of years, on these scissors. They are much lighter, more comfortable, and cut more accurately in a variety of materials than Dr. Slick (6 years professional fly tying). We'll see how long they last, but at this price they can last half as long as Dr. Smooth and still high quality.
