I connect and charge my Surface Book 2 using a USB-C hub connected to a 4K TV or monitor. I tried 4 different hubs, 8 USB-C extension cables, 3 USB-C to USB-C cables, 3 USB-C to HDMI cables, and 3 HDMI cables. I tested each one thoroughly to find out what works and what doesn't. Too bad I didn't find this cable first! what i've been through If you're looking for a way to have a clean 3-foot cable (so the hub can be at your desk) that plugs into your Surface Book 2's USB-C port and charges at the same time (95-100W) or better speed than the original charger and connects to a 4k display at 60Hz, causes no picture or sound distortion and allows you to connect other USB peripherals to the hub, here's what works (links below):- Anker Powerline II USB-C to USB- C 3.1 Gen 2 3ft is the KEY PART! I've worked my way through so many cables that have been incredibly problematic and contradictory. The Anker Powerline II worked great as soon as I plugged it in and continues to do so every time. I really wish I had just found it first! It would save me hours and hours of frustration! If you can have a hub right next to your laptop and then some cables from there then this cable is not needed and I needed a clean look with one cable from the laptop and then all the mess behind the monitor and desktop. - WBPINE USB C Hub HDMI 5 Multiport Adapter -in-1 or Koopman Dex Station USB Type C 5-in-1 Hub - seems to be the same product and manufacturer. I like the black case and green WBPINE power indicator. Koopman offers the best guarantee. Both worked the same way. One of the great things about these hubs β aside from the rare support for 4K at 60Hz and 100W β is that the 6-inch laptop cable is detachable. This makes it more durable and allows replacing the short cable with a longer one instead of using it as a USB-C extension cable (male-female), which I found more problematic and harder to find with the right specs. .- Wacom 100w power supply with 1.8m Mickey Mouse power cord is expensive for a single power supply. At the time, this was the only good option I could find to support 100W. Hopefully more 100W power supplies will be available at a lower price. High speed HDMI cable - I've tested several. They all worked. I didn't see any difference between 4ft and 6ft, but 4ft suits my application better. Just make sure it's rated for high speed. Don't spend more than $10. - TCL 55S423 55 inch TV - (from Costco) Great value for money. Supports chrominance 4:4:4. Has ports that come out the side instead of the back. 55 inches is about what I want for a comfortable monitor. The TCL 55S405 is similar but I think it has connections on the back which means it needs to be mounted farther from the wall. As a side note, the Vivo Mount-VW03G is a great 55 inch screen mount you need. so it's height adjustable and rotatable, and the Vivo Desk-V111VT is a great height adjustable desk on wheels. Now that I've finally figured out the hub and cables, I love my setup! I would like Microsoft to fix both of these things and come up with an easy fix that doesn't require you to figure out all the pieces above.
