Impressive although laptop use requires compromises

This type of Thunderbolt dock is a great idea and easy to use with a desktop computer or if you happen to use your laptop at your desk or desk. Table. It offers a high-speed connection to a Thunderbolt-compatible SSD, as well as great USB 3 access to drives, SD cards, etc. The downside is using the laptop on your lap. It would be very nice if a portable computer connected to the charger and additional storage devices. This device works, but there are tradeoffs. First, active 2m Thunderbolt cables are sold, but they are not reliable. Drives are unmounted randomly and appropriate error messages are displayed. The drive is usually fine and can be easily reconnected and mounted again, but at least one drive has failed after being disconnected. The solution seems to be to use a 0.7m cable, which is inconvenient but acceptable. The adapter has to be right next to my place on the couch and I have to be careful with the cable. Drives are still disconnected from time to time, but every few weeks instead of several times a day. The device gets surprisingly hot. This means that the room must be well ventilated. You can't put it in a box. This may be because a modern laptop needs to be powered. The device will turn off, or at least turn itself off, if it overheats, so this imposes more restrictions on placement. I would give five stars for desktop use, but not everyone uses a laptop at their desk. Still, it's amazing technology, and with a little planning and action on the device and furniture, it offers a magical connection for power and data.
