I like having my camera close to where I am in case I get a chance to take a "great picture". Example: Every day an Airbus A380 flies over my house on the way to land at JFK (I love taking aviation style photos). A while back I was working in the backyard and there I see in the distance that not only is it flying towards my house but it is unusually low. I ran in, grabbed my Nikon D5100 and ran back out just as the plane went right over my head. I got some great shots of this huge plane, but in my excitement when I removed the lens cap, I dropped it while taking the picture. As I positioned myself on my way to JFK to take more pictures, I accidentally stepped on the lens cap - crunch! If I had had a FotoTech lens cap holder back then, I could have saved myself the cost of a new lens cap.
