Review on Damascus Straight Folding Shaving Classic Shave & Hair Removal for Men's by Jessica Reed

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great design, good materials and not sharpened at all.

, I saw a video from a fairly popular YouTube channel that said they were "not real razors" (and of course they said you should buy the razors that *they* sold instead). Their main reasons were that they said the blade was not hardened, not real damascus steel and not sharp. From the hardness test files I can tell these razors are *hardened* to around 75A Rockwell, which is pretty tough. , and as you grind, you can see the damascus pattern disappear and reappear, which means it's real damascus steel. If it were sharpened (or at least with a blade) I'd probably give it five stars, but having to sharpen it that much is a major inconvenience. The blade appears to be well made and has good grooves. to accommodate the fingers while shaving, and the handle is very smooth and aesthetically pleasing, bone exterior and brass interior. The finish on the handle isn't perfect and the edges of the rivets are a bit rough, but for the price I don't think it matters much. The sheath and strap that comes with the razor are of fairly poor quality, but to my surprise they are actually genuine leather and work well for storing and trimming the razor (although I would recommend getting a better strap ). Overall I really like the razor, it's nice to see an attractive razor design that is actually new and not just a repeat of old razor designs. However, I would only recommend it if you don't mind grinding and sharpening it for most of the day.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • For the old
