I have a very shy rescue cat. She storms out of the room howling when I change her sheets and startles herself with her own paws by stepping on the hardwood floor. Said cat used to live in a shabby little closet (a box from a hardware store) which she loved, but which would go out anyway and leave the room entirely if anyone in the household ever came in and made a move. This igloo changed her life. First we put it on the ground where her old house used to be. For several days she was afraid of him and refused to go near him. Spraying with catnip didn't help either. Turns out the trick was to put it on her furniture tray. After a few days and more catnip, this place became her sanctuary. These photos were taken just as we were drilling a makeshift cat ladder (just shelves with rug on them) into the wall of this room. Drill. She watched in silence from her igloo. Every cat has different preferences, but how much our little cat loves her new home and feels safe is a wonder to us. I would buy him back if anything happened to him.
