I own a lot of sneakers, including a few pairs of New Balances, but the men's 247 from NB is like no other shoe in my wardrobe. There are many things I love about this shoe, including its comfort factor, but there are a few things I don't really like. Everyday tennis shoes. The upper of the shoe is made of woven textile (I'm not sure about the materials), it's very soft and flexible. The 247s also lack a prominent tongue, as the tongue is integrated into the entire upper, similar to the MT10V1 Minimus trail running shoe. The outsole, which NB calls "REVlite", is very light, flexible and flexes like my Nike Flex Contact shoes. All shoes are lightweight and incredibly comfortable. Lightweight materials and a mesh upper give the shoe some specific characteristics. First, the arch support is pretty poor, which is partly due to how much flex the shoe has. When I run after the kids on the playground, I feel like my legs are moving too much. For this reason I would never use these shoes for sports or intense activities as I consider the risk of injury to be too great. Go? Sure no problem! Casual everyday shoes? Yes, this is a great pair of comfortable shoes. Bottom line: Buy them for everyday use and as a fashion sneaker - they're great for that. Not very suitable for sports or intense activity.
