It's not dd-wrt compatible and has minimal software control, but signal strength and throughput at 5GHz is pretty good - better than my R7800. It is annoying if you want to assign an IP address internally and not via DHCP and then operate it in AP mode. I forgot the exact event string, but I had to factory reset it twice because it's "too stupid" to save multiple settings at once and then apply them all at once while already connected to the network and subnet that you want to use. works for. Set it up separately before connecting. Just a small note, but it really bothered me. Overall this seems good value for money at least for 5GHz. I don't use it at all on 2.4. I haven't run iperf yet, but it streams 480Mbps from the internet to my Pixel 5 with no problems. I disabled 5Ghz on my R7800 with dd-wrt because it outperforms. I certainly wouldn't use it as a router because it has crappy software and the specs are pretty weak. It does allow a scheduled reboot though, so I turned it on just in case. But after running it as a very dumb access point via pfsense, for $78 I'm pretty happy.
