2007 Ford Focus Installation Guide

I installed a Pioneer DEH-150MP single din stereo on a 2007 Ford Focus with no product related issues. For the installation I used Metra 99-5808 single DIN mounting kit (link below) and Metra 70-5520 wire harness. The stereo comes with a remote control (not used), the stereo itself, a few screws and a Pioneer wiring connector. The dashboard kit includes 2 brackets and a panel. The wiring harness is supplied in one piece, with a factory connector on one end and bare wires on the other. WARNING: THESE 3 ITEMS DO NOT HAVE AN ANTENNA ADAPTER. If you want to use the radio, you need to find a suitable antenna adapter. I will update this review if I find an adapter. FOR INSTALLATION: Before going to your car to take it apart, first solder all the wires together. Red goes with red, yellow goes with yellow, etc. There shouldn't be any surprises when soldering wires. The orange and solid blue wires from the factory connector are not used. Solder and glue unused ends. Disconnect the negative pole of the battery. This is a highly recommended cautionary step. The whole thing takes about 20 seconds. We remove the entire dashboard. Simply insert a screwdriver/knife into the edge of the panel and gently pry off. There are connectors near each corner, they should be easy to disconnect. You can unplug the cigarette lighter on the left side to free up space. Move the removed dashboard down and to the right to create more space. I struggled a bit to get through the shifter. Remove the 4 7mm screws on the sides of the original radio. To do this, you need a screwdriver (in the form of a ratchet screwdriver). The stereo comes out now. Disconnect the wire harness and antenna. Now that the factory stereo is free, it's time to assemble the dash kit. First remove the outer plastic paneling from your Pioneer stereo. There are small clips at the top, bottom and sides. Then, using any tool, lift the metal tabs on the left and right sides. Lift enough to slide the stereo out of the metal sleeve. The metal sleeve should slide back from the stereo. Now grab the plastic brackets that come with the dash kit. The R comes from the right side (check out the stereo how it will be positioned when we're done) and the L comes from the left side. The flaps should be on the bottom of the stereo. Using the screws that came with your Pioneer stereo, attach the brackets through all the open screw holes. I only used 4 screws. You can now slide your stereo into the single din dash kit and the brackets will snap into the rest of the kit. Snap the panel that came with the dashboard into place. It may be possible to turn the overlay upside down, avoid doing so at all costs. From here you just plug in the wire harnesses and antenna if you have the right adapter. Put the stereo and dash back in place, tighten the 4 screws, plug in the cigarette lighter if you removed it and finally put the front panel back on. Everything is ready. ---- Single DIN Installation Kit http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007WTF34/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 <---- Wiring Harness
