Review on πŸͺ’ Ultimate Precision: Utopia Care Professional Barber Straight Edge Razor Safety - 100-Pack Derby Blades Included! by Theresa Brown

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great concept, blades could be better.

I would like to start by saying that I wholeheartedly recommend this set to anyone who finds $20 for 3 packs of modern razor blades ridiculous. Aside from buying an actual straight blade razor, this is the cheapest shave you will get, and all without the higher upfront cost of a good razor blade and its peripherals. A fixed straight blade razor also requires no maintenance. Honestly, if you're thinking about getting a straight blade and you're on the edge, you'd do well to try that first. Sure, it's not exactly a straight blade, but it's close enough to give you a good idea of what shaving will be like with it. All in all, the razor itself is well made and only costs ten euros. It holds the blades securely and extends for easy cleaning. Its design makes it good for shaving hair of any length, which is especially nice if you only shave every other day or so. There really isn't much more to ask for. Now the reason I gave four stars instead of five: the blades. I use about two razors per blade as it is now and sometimes I have to change a blade in the middle of a shave. They start out pretty sharp and give a great shave when new. The problem is that they lose their sharpness very quickly, so the change is noticeable with the first shave with a new blade. They're cheap enough that it's acceptable, but still annoying. For reference, I have very fine, thick, soft facial hair. A cartridge razor from someone like Gillette usually shaves well four times and badly once or twice, after which it becomes too dull to do anything but snip the face. Disposable razors are enough for half to three shaves. I plan to use the rest of the blades and then get a few packs of different brands to see if anything else works better. If you have few single-edged blades, the razor also accepts double-edged blades that are broken in half. This gives you access to blades from companies like Merkur and Feather who either don't make single edged blades or whose single edged blades aren't available.
