Necessary peripheral vision is blocked because it's double vision and since I wore glasses they looked workable. They were and worked well. One star removed for ease of use as I had to cut and re-sew a hole to fit the glasses, but I may have larger glasses than usual. Also note that the material they are made of is an unusual synthetic fabric that 'sheds' (develops) loose thread-like pieces that can irritate your eyes. You can cut them with a very sharp little pair of scissors, but it would be nice if they didn't develop. I suspect that using a 'real' fabric/material will add to the cost.
