My 11 year old Chow was attacked twice by a local Golden Retriever. The first time he tore his neck. The second time he grabbed his neck. I bought this collar to protect him. Let's hope the attack doesn't happen again, but if it does, this collar will seriously damage the attacker's teeth and result in expensive vet bills for the owner. The incident was reported to the police and this time the owner received a warning. My dog is a retired show dog, very gentle and calm. I didn't want to make him look stern but I think this collar will help protect him. He only wears it when I take him for a walk and he seems to understand its purpose and comes straight to me for me to put it on him. This is a well-made heavy collar; The spikes are very sharp and sharp and I believe that if bitten they will prevent injury to my dog and hopefully force the attacker to retreat.
