Failed adoptive parent of three cat siblings here. Our children were barely four weeks old when we brought them home and they were very ill. Fast forward two years: now they are huge and very active, Siberian cats... and often a naughty trio! Over the past few years, Thundershirts has helped us (and continues to help) with countless cat behavior issues. We bought the first Thundershirt hoping to quell our little girl Tony's excessive vocal problem, which was so loud and constant that we were genuinely afraid of disturbing our roommates. Luckily Tony loved Thundershirt like a fish in water! Not only has this helped her completely calm down/shut up...she loves this shirt so much that she even jumps around wearing it (no kidding). Our kitten Raymond has spent a very long time (over 1 year) feeding himself and feeding his sisters fur. We've tried all sorts of recommended medications, including being given a stuffed animal with a mechanical heartbeat and internal heating. We then crossed our fingers and bought a second Thundershirt for Raymond... and success again! It wasn't long before Raymond went from vacuuming constantly to once/twice a day and eventually stopped vacuuming altogether. Our third cat, Polly, while outgoing and confident at home, was *scared* of strangers - not to mention she was only two steps from our door... to the vet. I say: howl so loudly that one might think the animal had been tortured. Needless to say, putting Polly in such fear was just as terrifying to us as she probably felt she had to endure! Two months ago, during a siblings' WrestleMania, Polly's retinas were scratched. When we woke up we found her eye swollen and we had to take her to the vet the day before the long drive...hopefully with as little drama as possible. With Raymond's t-shirt, hope and prayers, we loaded Polly into her van without a fight...in fact, Polly only bleeped once the entire trip to the vet! So we bought Polly her very own Thundershirt and now we have three of them (one for each cat). The Thundershirts have also helped quell other, diverse patterns of misbehavior, from jumping everywhere they can't, to an insane food/treat closet, to midnight running and beyond. Of course, there are animals that don't respond to thundershirts the way they do to luck. But for our three boys they were the key to many successes in cat rearing. The only negative reviews I have don't deserve a full star relative to its success...but maybe half a star. :1) Velcro seams are uneven, especially on two shirts we recently bought. 2) The velcro itself is too grippy (again, the first vest we bought was closer to optimal) 3) The fabric seems to be a lot thinner and thinner than the first vest we bought... which combined with The new, very durable Velcro sometimes makes the Thundershirt harder to put on (and harder to take off too). For reference, our cats weigh approximately the following amounts and have the following t-shirt sizes: Tony: 13lbs, strong build, long and very thick coat (size: L) Raymond: 12lbs, male build, long and thick coat (Size: Large) Polly: 11.5 lbs, slim but tall build, very long but thin coat (Size: Medium)
