Canon seems to recognize the need to replace the cartridge well before the right time, especially if you leave the printer on and don't turn it off. They're ridiculously expensive, well made, but should last a lot longer. I have an iX6820 printer. I understand wanting to sell the printer cheap to make money off the cartridges but these are some of the short lived cartridges I have had for years and I have had Epson and HP printers before. However, I will say that Canon's support was excellent and sent me the printer free of charge when my printer failed due to stuck through labels. So you're paying for good support when you buy these cartridges.
