I find that printers last longer if you purchase the recommended inks that should come with your printer. I know the other one saves a lot of money, but the printer breaks faster and I'm not the kind of person who knows how to take the printer apart to do a thorough cleaning, so I'll stick with the brand name. When I bought my printer it was very cheap and now the price has gone up a few hundred dollars. I also bought from Amazon here. I'm trying to avoid the expense of a new printer.

I'm leaving this because I haven't read the "fine print" and I need the ink. I thought I would buy XL tanks but only the BLACK one with a big XL in red and white writing is really XL. The rest are conventional tanks. Very, very deceptive. I can't believe Revane would let that happen. They come in two boxes; one with XL tank and the other with normal tanks. Canon seems to recognize the need to replace the cartridge well before the right time, especially if you leave the printer on and don't turn it off. The packaging was wrinkled. When I opened the box, a black piece of plastic fell out. When I was installing ink cartridges in my printer, I noticed that the separate tab 251 BK was broken; This is the piece that fell out of the box. I kept putting it in the printer and because that part broke the cartridge didn't click and the printer didn't recognize the new cartridge. Now I have to buy a separate 251 BK as it is broken. I had to return an unused product because one of the cartridges came with a broken clip rendering it unusable. But I was surprised that not all cartridges were type XL. At first, especially given the damage, I thought someone on the packaging team would have done a clever replacement.
