Review on ๐Ÿ๏ธ Torc T14B Mako Full Face Helmet with Integrated Bluetooth by Matt Morgan

Revainrating 2 out of 5

All the features I wanted, nothing worked as it should.

Pretty disappointed with the purchase of the helmet. I'll start with what I was looking for and then I'll tell you what I got. Use it outdoors as well as on the track and where I could listen to music while driving without having to wear headphones and also take random phone calls if needed. I also wanted a fold-down visor and a well-fitting helmet. After looking around on many sites I settled on the Torc brand because it had all the features I needed at a reasonable price. Although there were many options on the bay (mostly, if not all, from China) with the same characteristics around the 100-140 mark, judging by the reviews it looked like it would be worth spending the extra money on. Try it on: I'm currently wearing a Shoei XL (RF1200) without Bluetooth as my main device. It fits perfectly. My head size is 7"5/8-7" 3/4 and about 23"3/4-24" I should be XL and still have some room to wear a skullcap underneath. After reading the reviews I decided to go up a size and order an XXL (the largest size they make). It came and was so tight that it actually hurt me to wear it. It has put me under so much pressure that I honestly think it would be average or great at best with any other reseller. So firstly, if you know you are wearing an XL (or larger) helmet, Torc will not give you a size. doesn't work better. I flipped the switch back and forth a few times to test it and found that it would rise about 9/10 of the way and the bottom lip would still stick out a bit. You can then push it all the way in with your hand, but it looks like it will fail after a while of use and fall off a bit on its own. and I think it has a very nice design when actually working as it should. Bluetooth And that was killer for me, I was really ready to take the pressure of an oversized helmet. (hoping it will fit better over time) because I really just wanted a working bluetooth headset. Unfortunately, this ended any hope that I would use this helmet. To be honest, the blue tooth is terrible. Audio was mostly coming from the right speaker only and had some static and popping noises. It sounded, well, inappropriate. I put the helmet on and while it connected easily to my Samsung phone, I could barely hear the other person on the phone in a quiet room (not even on the bike). (not to mention the clapping) I have a Ducati Superbike, it's a road bike. Only when starting the bike (idle) did I hear anything from Bluetooth, let alone actual riding or racing. If you have an electric scooter you might be able to hear something. Test: Using Bose SoundSport headphones in my shoes wasn't a fair comparison. So I decided to use the worst headset I could, these were my kids headphones we bought from 5 Below (yes they were $5 wireless headphones). I connected them to my phone and in my shoes I could at least hear the music playing. This means the speakers and Bluetooth in this Torc helmet are worse than a $5 set. In short, this is a good $60 helmet with a $20 bluetooth kit at best. When it falls to a price close to its value and you decide to buy it. You must order at least 1 size, although it is likely to be 2 sizes larger. If you are medium build buy XL, if you are tall buy XXL and if you are very tall buy another helmet. IF you don't care about bluetooth capabilities and just buy another helmet there are plenty of them in the $40-$70 range without bluetooth for the same quality. It is currently repackaged outside awaiting UPS pickup. And another week until I get my money back. At $200 plus tax I cannot recommend this helmet. I'll just buy a good quality bluetooth kit and install it on another helmet. My suggestion to the manufacturer is to put in a better bluetooth system, yes you can charge more but you need to upgrade your speakers. If you need to calculate 250 instead, that's fine. but put in some better speakers that actually work. and finally test the system before you sell it. I hope this review saved you from wasting your time.
