This is what you need to protect a significant investment. I don't know how much protection, but at least something. I installed it backwards first as I was using a disc at the time. I took it off and turned it over so you can read the serial number. I doubt it affects performance in any way. I would say the best part is that I used the red cover and it really makes it stand out from all the other stuff on my computer desk. I would hate to lose 2TB of data. And not as slippery as the disc itself. Not super grippy, which may or may not be what you're looking for.
