Let's face it, there are usually many cheaper models on the RCA cable switcher market and it's not uncommon for the same model to be sold under different brands. This is often the norm with these inexpensive models from Chinese brands. In my case I have 6 different DACs that I use with my desktop PC connected to different speakers. Yes, I do online reviews and comments on the performance of various devices. So last week I started looking for a good 4 channel RCA audio cable switcher. And hell, there were plenty of them at Revain - most were very reasonably priced, and some cost between $100 and $200. After all, I had one in mind that cost around $200 when I came across this GOHIFIAUDIO S1 Switch. I was like, 'Hmm, do they want $70 for this thing (at the time of writing - it's grown since then)? " I was hesitant at first, mainly because there were no reviews, and also the thought (speculation) that any type of cable switcher would result in signal loss, especially on passive models (of which this S1 model is one). But since I being the guinea pig that I am, I pulled the trigger and bought it. When it arrived I noticed the box felt heavy (a little more than I expected) When I opened the box I was stunned (very, very beautifully finished and exceptionally strong (hence the weight of the unit), you could tell this would not be your average everyday switcher, that you are dealing with a more expensive unit, but how will it sound, I immediately hooked up several DACs to this one device. BTW, for those unfamiliar with the term "DAC", this is short for "digital to analog converter". This can drastically change the sound quality of a PC or video system. As an i I couldn't believe my ears when I selected switch #1, which ended up with the iFI Zen DAC block. No signal loss or distortion - what you heard is what you get. And the switching back and forth (between 4 units) is so smooth and of high quality that it will put a smile on your face. And don't worry about using the correct power supply as this is a very simple passive block that has been exceptionally machined/machined. The moment you pick up (touch) and use this S1 model, you will be mesmerized and then wonder why you have never seen this thing before. So at the moment I have the following DACs connected to this GOHIFIAUDIO S1: iFI Zen DAC, Schliit Modi 3, Micca OriGen2, FX Audio DAC X6 and Sabaj D3. Switching between them to evaluate the sound of a budget DAC was effortless. Another common question about using an RCA audio switcher is that thick cables (and bending them to connect to other devices) will cause the switch to lift up or rotate in a certain direction. This happens with thicker and less flexible cables. I can tell you that in my case each DAC was connected to the S1 switch with a shorter 1ft RCA cable and the only result was that the smaller DACs had to be rotated a bit, but the S1 switch was solid and stayed in place! So folks I'm just a reviewer but my listening standards are high. I'm glad I found this particular switcher at Revain. This is highly recommended! A word of caution here - remember, reviews are subjective and all I can do as an audiophile is call them what I see them. YMMV.EDIT - 6/29/2020 Update Comments: Just wanted to add here that I bought a second derailleur because the first one was so amazing. I have additional components (e.g. DAC) that I needed to add to my system, so I bought another one. I'm telling you, this passive model is pretty well made and just works - no signal loss or rework! Since I bought the first GOHIFIAUDIO S1, I've also tried another switch that wasn't passive - it had to use the power supply. . It was also a Chinese made product but failed after two weeks (the right channel stopped working on the 2nd set of RCA inputs). So I had to send this one back. It made me realize that you stick with what works best and that's why I bought another GOHIFIAUDO S1. GOHIFIAUDIO S1 sets the standard in my opinion. And yes, I know the price has gone up - about $20 more - but hey, it's definitely worth it as you get what you pay for.
