Review on πŸŽ„ EAMBRITE Snowflake Tree Topper: Glittering Cool White Christmas Decor with 9 Modes Controller - Perfect for Home Party & Wedding by David Caldwell

Really cool light with a dubious build

Let me start by saying that the snowflake light itself is beautiful. It's a good size (perfect for my 9ft Christmas tree) and a very nice cool white light. I personally prefer cool white light in my Christmas decorations. Reminds me more of snow than warm white. But I digress. As you can see in one of my photos, it has a control box that lets you choose between 8 separate modes and one mode that combines all effects. In addition to the pleasant light color, the snowflake has an additional shine. to this, which adds a really nice texture and adds some bling. This is really impressive and creates a festive atmosphere. Keep in mind that I am an LED lighting fanatic having installed my own lighting throughout my home so I am very careful with the LED products I buy. This top of the tree is no exception. First of all, the system they have chosen as a basis is terrible. Basically, this only works if you want your topper to be low at the top of your tree. It's really not very good for mounting high up on the topmost branch. As you can see from the photos I've added, it's shaped like a cone with slots in it, so you theoretically wrapped the attached Velcro around it to "tighten". The problem is that it's not the same plastic. It's a hard plastic that I'm sure will become brittle after a year of storage and will break the next time I hang it on a tree. Taper a few times, this allows you to attach the topper higher on the top branch. As for my other criticism, I'm not a fan of wiring at all. It doesn't make sense on many levels. First, it looks sketchy like it was made in someone's basement. Second, it's NOT green so it's somewhat noticeable while the device is in the tree. I also don't understand why there isn't a standard power cord coming out of the unit like most other lights on the market. Finally, this is the control unit. If you want to add that, why not make it an RF controller and add a small remote control to select different modes from the comfort of your couch? In turn, as an avid LED user, that has become an expectation of devices like this. Had the mounting system and wiring/controls of this treetop been more advanced it would have given 5 stars but as it really lacks the current basics of an LED fixture I had to lower it to 3. But again, if you don't mind shortcomings, this is a really beautiful treetop.
