We have four house cats, two of which are quite old and stubborn. They are used to clay putty and after trying this product they seem to have turned their backs on it. The two younger cats were often kept as kittens in my office and I used recycled newspaper so I think they liked the shape of the tofu litter better. This will vary with individual animals so I cannot give points as we have two grumpy old cats. Tofu litter seems to absorb the smell well. I didn't notice any more odor when using this filler than I did with the premium clay-based filler, and I appreciated the lack of a strong perfume smell. I did notice that the urine seemed to flow through and pooled a little on the bottom of the tray, but it soaked in fairly well and left some wet filler clinging to the plastic at the bottom. No big deal, it was just an observation. This led me to believe that it doesn't absorb as quickly as clay. Another benefit is that it doesn't seem to pick up smaller clay particles from the litter box like it does. This can be a huge plus for some people, although our matte seems to pick up what comes out of the box so we don't have much of a problem with the default clay fill. It seems to work better than any alternative clay filler I've tried over the years. Some were terrible while this one is pretty close to what we used. I really like that the filler is biodegradable. Clay isn't bad to handle, but this material needs to be even better as it breaks down over time. I hope the second bag goes better and the cats get used to this product. It's probably one of the dustiest bedding options out there, and it doesn't weigh a ton. If I can get the cats excited about the product, maybe we can find a new product to use further. I think if it is used on kittens they will accept it.
