Security will ask you to remove your passport and Vaccination card from the holder to inspect the documents. That's their job. I like this item but there's NO WAY I'm putting this in a front or rear jean pants pocket. Too bulky for that. I did however find a nice, small carrier pouch that you can sling over the shoulder or clip to your belt loop. It holds the passport holder and many other items you may wish to take along. I don't take my passport with me anyway. As soon as I arrive in the hotel I put it in the room safe or ask the front desk to put it in their hotel safe.So, while this is a nice protective faux leather binder. it's not at all necessary. But I am not knocking it's functionality or construction. Just the purpose.
